LANGUAGE SCHOOL: WELCOME MESSAGE

Queen's Collegiate is an independent school catering to the students from grade 6 to 12.  Based on the Ontario Ministry of Education's curriculum each subject is approached artistically and age appropriately, addressing the students developing faculties through and integrated willing, feeling and thinking.  It is through this approach that a foundation is laid for vital, happy, well-rounded students with enquiring minds, an enthusiasm for learning, and readiness to approach the demanding years of intellectual learning ahead in High School or University.

Our faculty members and staff work hard to provide you an outstanding experience in your academic venture here at Queen's Collegiate.  Whether you plan to graduate from Queen's Collegiate or build your academic skills through individual courses before heading to university, you will find that your studies here will provide you with a solid base upon which to build your education.

We pride ourselves in small classes with qualified professionals teaching our academic classes.  I know that you will find our faculty and staff here to help you succeed with your educational goals.

Our staff is not only well educated, but also kind and caring.  Our lessons stress active, social, and creative learning.  The lessons in which our students engage are serious, and I hope there is a lot of a room for fun in their learning as well.

Education should be enjoyable and emphasize student involvement. Here at Queen's, we encourage students to recognize differing perspectives and to develop their own viewpoints regarding unfamiliar theories and ideas. Creating an environment where learning, knowledge and understanding are fostered is imperative to ensuring a great academic environment for all students whether they are beginning or advancing their studies. In this environment, students are motivated to initiate discussion in order to allow for academic creativity and freedom.

Student participation and interaction are essential ingredients for the Queen's Collegiate teaching philosophy. We encourage all students to cooperate with each other and to utilize their individual talents. Not only are students challenged by their classmates, but they also learn the importance of teamwork; these are lessons that will serve them well once entering the post-secondary or workforce setting. More importantly, they are able to inquire, analyze and comment on critical debates. They engage in an activity that will complement and enhance the normative textbook readings.

I find great joy in teaching and counselling students. My ultimate goal is that students who graduate from Queen's Collegiate are more aware of global cultures, able to construct their own ideas, and are excited about learning. Also, I hope students leave my classes better informed and more knowledgeable across the discourse, and are active participants in their respective communities.
